Kallari means origin in Kichwa, a variant of Quechua. The language of the former Inca Empire is still spoken today in the vegetable markets of Ecuador, which were documented photographically over a period of four years.

The motif, a sculpture made of edible potatoes and a plastic bucket erected for the photo, emerged from these observations, where the most valuable food of the Andean people is often stacked into imposing towers for display.

Artificiality contrasts with the naturalness of the organic forms of the tubers from the earth, albeit grown in a standardised way in this country.

In addition to the value, form and transience of the potato as a material, this staging also addresses its diversity, role in history, its origin and current status.
