Lotty Rosenfeld, Una milla de cruces sobre el pavimento (1979) Der Vortrag beschäftigt sich mit Erinnerungsstrategien in der lateinamerikanischen Kunst im Kontext autoritärer Regime seit den 1970er Jahren. Aus kunsthistorischer Perspektive geht es darum, wie Künstler*innen unter Diktatur, Zensur und politischer Gewalt gearbeitet und Ausdrucksformen des Widerstands entwickelt haben. Gleichzeitig wird betrachtet, wie sich diese Strategien in den demokratischen Prozessen danach verändert oder sich weiterentwickelt haben. Außerdem werden beispielhaft einige Beiträge lateinamerikanischer Gesellschaften zur weltweiten Erinnerungskultur vorgestellt.
Chana Boekle ist eine deutsche und mittelamerikanische Kunstkuratorin, die seit 2015 zwischen Deutschland und Argentinien arbeitet. Sie konzentriert sich auf Ausstellungen, die gesellschaftliche Themen wie Erinnerungskultur, Migration und Menschenrechte behandeln. In den letzten elf Jahren beschäftigt sie sich speziell mit politischer Kunst in Argentinien und Lateinamerika seit den 70er Jahren. Ihre Projekte sind geprägt von einem starken Interesse an sozialen Fragen und der Rolle der Kunst im öffentlichen Raum. Sie hat als unabhängige Kuratorin mit unterschiedlichen Künstler*innen wie Cana Bilir-Meier (Deutschland), Daniela Castillo Cortez (Chile), Pablo Cornejo (Argentinien) oder Mónica Mayer (México) gearbeitet. Sie entwickelt auch auf projektbezogener Basis konzeptionelle, theoretische und kuratorische Beiträge im Dialog mit Ausstellungsinstitutionen. Von 2013 bis 2019 war sie im kuratorischen Bereich des Museo de Artes Plásticas „Eduardo Sívori“ in Buenos Aires tätig. Aktuell ist sie Kuratorin der Galerie „Hab.19“ und arbeitet an dem Projekt im öffentlichen Raum namens Nach:Leben. Eine Spurensuche Orte rechter Gewalt. welches im Juli 2026 in München eröffnet wird.
Cana Bilir-Meier arbeitet als Filmemacherin, Künstlerin und Kunstpädagogin in München.
Sie studierte an der Akademie der bildenden Künste Wien sowie an der Sabancı-Universität in Istanbul. 2021 war sie Gastprofessorin für Kunstpädagogik an der Akademie der bildenden Künste in München. 2018 hat sie die Initiative zum Gedenken an Semra Ertan mitbegründet und 2020 den Gedichtband Semra Ertan. Mein Name ist Ausländer / Benim Adım Yabancı mit herausgegeben. Sie war Stipendiatin des Internationalen Residency Programs in Paris, Cité Internationale des Arts.

The lecture explores strategies of memory in Latin American art in the context of authoritarian regimes since the 1970s. From an art historical perspective, it examines how artists worked under dictatorship, censorship, and political violence, and how they developed forms of resistance through artistic expression. At the same time, it considers how these strategies changed or evolved during subsequent democratic processes. In addition, the lecture presents selected examples of Latin American societies’ contributions to global memory culture.
